Speaking very carefully from England, I should point out that the Queen Mum is not * that * universally popular. There is a school of thought which holds that she was the one behind the blocking of Margaret's marriage to Townsend.I'm not putting up an anti-Royals argument, because I too was a great Margaret fan; I'm merely adding the other perspective. Had she been born twenty years later, Margaret might have been more free to show the streak of individuality which marks out Anne, the Princess Royal. They both have/had 'character', by the bucketful.
