I've solved my own problem, ain't that great? I'm going to use my Takamine GS330GS as my beater. I got this guitar at a bargain, so I said there's no use in laying out bucks right now for a beater unless a real bargain comes along. The Tak is a great guitar and is in great condition, but it was a factory second when I bought it, so, there you have it I've said it.
