I went to the Folk Traditions in Bristol more than 10 years ago. The singers' night there went round the room, when it got to one guy who presumeably couldn't or wouldn't sing he said "I'd like to share this song with you" and played the tape recorder. If that helps, he has already set the precedent for you! They book guests once a month I think.
