No, it ain't just you Art. I LOVE musical minutiae...and I love meeting interesting people and hearing their stories, whether music-related or not. I love wicked biting satire, and the kind of wit and irony that catches you completely by surprise, with the result that your eyebrow suddenly raises and you go "Oh.....I get it!!" and then you laugh for the next two minutes....but, I'm pretty adaptable as well, so when I see things on Mudcat that don't interest me with either their content or style of presentation, I just detach a bit until something like "Blind Lemon" or "Wayne Raney" or "Keepsakes", or "How deep do you go", or even "Is it just me", comes along.
Over my four years I've written at least a couple of books worth on "playing tips", (along with several others) and my feeling is, this stuff is there to be retrieved by anyone who might find it useful and is willing to take the time, and I don't see much reason to do it all again (besides I'd probably contradict myself a dozen times!!).
I think change is inevitable, easily predictable, and often disappointing....but watching it happen is still fascinating (sometimes in the "trainwreck" sense) and I have to admit I DO read the "Guest(s) vs. Inner Creaky Clique" threads....but if I ever start to take them seriously and actually get mad at cyphers, that'll be time to leave.
In the meantime, I still try and look in everyday, so MC still has a place in my life.
Cheers
Rick
