This May help if it's a stack overflow problem. Open a dos window. Type edit config.sys. Press Enter. In the Edit window, enter the three lines:
stacks=64,512
files=60
buffers=40
Save that and exit. Then try one of the online virus tests as mentioned above. Good luck. PS. If that entry doesn't help, it won't do any harm.
