I think it is important to repeat what Jed Marum said:
The problematic emails are NOT the ones from strangers.
The problematic emails are the ones from people you know.
The problematic emails are the ones with ATTACHMENTS.
A smart virus uses the email accounts and address books of people you know and trust. It sends emails from their accounts without their knowledge.
If you get an email with an attachment from someone you know, reply immediately and ask if they actually sent it. Your reply might be their first clue that THEY have a problem.
