My version of the chant comes from the World of Music series (Gr 4) published by Silver Burdett/Ginn (pp.78-79).

For the movements,I've had my students 'turning buttons' with the right, then left hands; then keeping the toes on the floor, turning the button with right then left feet, turning the ankle from side to side. Then add the elbows, as if flapping wings (while still turning the buttons with hands and feet), first right then left; finally nodding the head for the seventh verse. Doing it this way, it can be done either standing or sitting, and it keeps the ambient noise level to a minimum (all those feet stomping up and down frenetically can get to be overwhelming). Also, since my kids know the cant, we don't echo it. You can teach it easily enough - one or two listenings is all it takes, then their off. Let me know how it works for you! lynndeborahk2@aol.com
