Little John's history of spam is interesting, but incomplete...or perhaps it is shaded to conceal the real truth. It is a little known fact that Spam was actually invented by Mr. Shatner's father (a scientist for Hormel), and he and his wife were given to consuming large quantities of it late in the evening. It was under the influence of this fabulous culinary masterpiece that HE HIMSELF was conceived. This may be the underlying reason that HE is rather insipid, has an odd color and texture, and gives fans gas.

Anyway, the stuff beat C-rations.
