Thread Name: How do I tune a Hawaiian guitar?

ANAHOOTZ: Thanks for a great link. I just printed all 11 pages and will stash it in my resonator notebook.

Guest, the Golchero: Don't get to bogged down. Use the G tuning and if you want an A use a capo on the 2nd fret. These two will keep you entertained for quite a while. When you feel like you've got a feel for playing in open tunings, then play with some of the others. Lots of folks around here like drop D tuning and it is easy to get to but you have a lot on your plate now. Also, find a heavy slide either in glass or metal that fits your pinky finger and play around with that. Some folks like to slide with other fingers to keep the pinky open for fretting above the slide but for just getting started, it is my opinion that the pinky will work best for you. I have done some experiementing with using two slides. One full (on the middle finger) and one stubby (on the pinky finger) and have gotten some interesting sounds, but I don't reccomend this for starting out. Stay with the pinky for now.
