The death has occurred of the songwriter Harlan Howard at the age of 74. A prolific artist whose output topped 100 over the years his numbers include "Busted" which was a hit for Ray Charles in 1963 and "Heartaches by the Number" which was sung to great effect by Guy Mitchell in 1959.
