They say a camel is a horse designed by committee - which I always think is unfair to camels, who are brilliantly designed for the kind of country horses can't cope with. But the idea behind the saying is true enough.

Actually sticking the playlist drawn up by the Idiosyncratic Individual together and putting it on a CD would be a separate task, and not that overwhelming, even working from tapes.

Cost of a blank CD and case is about 40p, cost of a label and so forth about another 30p. 70p in all, about $1, not counting anything for anybody's time. That's producing them one by one or five by five.

We could have different people in different parts of the world producing small batches as and when required. Anyone who wants a copy just sends the dosh in to Mudcat, and the word goes out to someone to send them a CD. They could either claim back the postage, or treat it as a donation to Mudcat from themselves. Of course it'd be all dependent on trust, but most people are honest enough when it come down to it.
