Getting seriously offended by someone else's interpretation of your work is usually silly. I reserve my right to be offended to what people do with other people's songs.I haven't been writing songs that long, and I don't know if I'll ever hear anyone else sing them. So far, I've heard one person do one of them on PalTalk. I believe he was concerned about my reaction. My philosophy is that, if you find something in the song you like, if you hear the song a certain way in your head, do it that way! Even if one day I hear a reggae version of something I've written, complete with a horn section and a bit of rap in the middle, I'll be honored that something I wrote inspired someone else.
Songs and stories are about the enjoyment of the performer and the listener. If they're about the author's ego, something's wrong. If they inspire the creativity of a performer, something's right. You don't have to like the result, but to stifle that creativity is just plain anal.
