G'day Mick, BJ and all,As I understand it, the really important area for Australia/New Zealand (ANZACs) was Gallipoli ... and Suvla Bay was very much a British Army action and didn't affect the Australia New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) so much.
So why do we have such a heartfelt song about Suvla Bay? Who knows? A lot of Australians (like my Grandfather Bolton) were in the ANZAC only because they had come to Australia a few years before. Then again, a very large lot would have reacted against Churchill's convenient exterminations of troublesome Irish (as would the Quinns, on my mother's family side). The song can lead to all sorts of history.

Bob Bolton
