Carol, I believe that the Arab Summit that ended yesterday agreed that the refugees (and their descendents) must be allowed to return to Israel as a condition for peace. Or it may be that this was in the original proposal floated by the Saudis and it changed during their discussions, but this has been their position pretty consistently. I also think I heard that Mr. Kadaffy of Libya goes one step further by stating that there should be an integrated nation of what is now Israel and the occupied territories, and that all of the Jewish inhabitants should be disarmed as part of this integration. The King of Jordan did not attend the meeting, for undisclosed reasons, and the Israelis wouldn't let Mr. Arafat go.
