I am trying to learn some Mance Lipscomb songs, so I have been listening to him a bit lately. It reminds me that I don't know the story of how he was brought to the attention of revivalists.I know John Hurt, Doc Boggs, Son House, etc. made records in the 20s and people began to see if they were still around. Son House seems to have been stumbled upon by Alan Lomax before the revival. Fred McDowell was discovered by Lomax while he was nosing around the Delta.
I know Lipscomb was a sharecropper in Texas when he was discovered; but I don't know by whom or how. Did he make records in the 20s>
