Thread Name: Seeking Paul Robeson stories
Subject: RE: Seeking Paul Robeson stories
I got down to Tiger Bay (aka Cardiff Bay these days) and had a good look at the exhibition.

Some interesting original stuff there recalled and recorded by those who had known Paul Robeson in the past. Including his visit to Butetown in 1947 to visit an old comrade of his who had retired (sought asylum ?) in Cardiff, and was living in Loudoun Sq., (BTW Loudoun Sq., still exists as a Street Name, but the old terraced houses have been pulled down, and replaced by new build terraced houses.)

The exhibition was small but I did manage to obtain a commemorative booklet giving a synopsis of Paul Robesons links with South Wales, and the South Wales Miners Federation.

I have scanned this and converted it into a Word file - It's 2.75 Mb - If anyone wants a copy PM me with your E Mail address and I will try and transmit it.

School parties are encouraged to visit the History Centre, and I was struck by one message left by a schoolgirl. I think it is worthy of repeating :-

"Hello, my name is Jayne. What colour am I ??! Does it matter ??
Jayne"

I would recomend this exhibition to anyone visting Cardiff.
