Keeping the 'Cat from losing its soul is a community responsibility. Having met the folks at both Folk Legacy and Camsco (and you've all met Sandy Paton), I have no fears in that area. They're "our kind of people" and are in it for love of music, far more than for money. Seems to me that a resource/instrument exchange could also be done with the same light hearted friendliness that characterizes (most of) our discussions here. Whether it actually works out that way is up to us.
