Tim Eriksen, the young singer and guitarist for Cordelia's Dad has a new CD that modifies and adds new tunes or instrumentation to many traditional songs, but he also reveals a devotion to the origins of the music. If his guitar work is sometimes closer to Leo Kottke than Doc Watson, his vocals are directly derivative of the style and tone of Lee Monroe Presnell, an influence he proudly sights. And not out of a sense of reverence or authenticity, but because Presnell sang the stuff like Farewell to Old Bedford in such a unique and gripping way.
