Doug -- that meringue joke is one of my all time favourites too, and of course the black Country equivalent is the one about Noddy Holder shopping for clothes. He's bought a suit and a pair of platform boots and is looking for accessories when the shop assistant comes up and says "Kipper tie?". "Bostin'" says Noddy, "Milk and two sugars, please".
