Hey, come one, Banjoest, gun control is no reason to knock Cuba...I've been to Cuba and it's a great place. Some of the young friends I made there told me there there are a fair number of pretty bad fights that erupt between men...usually due to a hefty intake of rum, combined with a short temper and a big mouth...and these fellows manage to kill or wound each other very effectively with knives or machetes...so who needs guns?Be that as it may, I never saw one single fight when I was down there, and I felt far safer on the streets of Cardenas at night than I do in American cities. There is very little crime in Cuba, and there's a lively street scene at pretty well all hours.
To draw comparisons between Cuba and the USA on the gun control issue is kind of meaningless...like comparing the prevalence of Nintendo games in the USA to that in Papua-New Guineau. It's a very different situation.
I also saw far fewer cops in Cuba, by the way, than I do in either the USA or Canada. Far fewer. They do not seem to be needed very much in order to maintain public order there. You gotta wish that was the case in places like...Mexico...eh?
Don't get me wrong, though, I think you have a perfect right to own a gun if you want to, and so does any other law-abiding citizen.
