It is amazing how much walking you can get in if you simply walk to do your basic errands, or, if practical, to and from work. Walk to the pub; walk to the shops (you can easily carry 20 pounds of groceries in a backpack and that makes your workout even better!); walk to the post office, the dry cleaners, the hardware store, the dentist. You may even save time by not getting stuck in traffic!

And think of how you are benefitting your health...just be careful of cars when you are a pedestrian!
