I suppose that when I started this I should have seen the Douglas Adams allusions coming.

It reminds me, however of the mathematician who not only lost his tenure but was burried up to his lower lip in blue oatmeal for thirty years for claiming not only to have calculated the exact curvature of the universe but to have dicovered, in the process, that the universe is, in fact, an immense cul-de-sac.
