I was playing in a local village pub one time, not a gig, just a couple of us sitting around. I played my version of the Bert Jansch song Strolling Down The Highway and afterwards this bloke comes over and asks "Why don't you play it like Bert does?

I simply smiled and said something like "out of my league, I'm afraid", all the time thinking "because if I could play like Bert Jansch I wouldn't be sitting in this crappy pub playing to myself, idiot!"

I sometimes wonder if it's me.
