Sinsull:Tough lesson indeed; a long time ago I read a story about an old Quaker who bought his paper at the same New York newsie's stand every morning. Every morning, the Quaker spoke politely, thanked the man, and said "Good morning", and so on. And every day the man in the newstand was ill-mannered and contemptuous. A friend finally asked the old gent why he continued in his courteous manner with someone who was so ill-mannered and rude, and his reply was "Why should I let him define how I choose to act?".
Friendship means different things to different people, as does love, and reality, and communication and a lot of things. I think perhaps the best you can do is try to be true to your own best defintions, learn when you fail and be loyal to your own decisions and your highest sense of right action. It'd benice if we never fell short, huh?
