Here's an interesting true story. Mike Agranoff, a fine New Jersey performer, also found good audience response to this song, so he decided to record it for his most recent CD. It wasn't until he had already printed the graphics that he remembered he hadn't gotten all of his licenses. When he requested a mechanical license for "Would You Like to Swing on a Star" he was turned down. He believed that a parody did not require any special license. The owner of the copyright said the song is not a true parody, i.e. a spoof or the original, but simply a song that used the tune. Mike felt he might have had a case in court, but he doesn't have money for a lawyer. He dropped the song from his CD, but it is still titled "Or Would You Rather Get a Job." Some composers just have no sense of humor.
