I remember that many years ago at one of the Bracknell Folk Festivals there was "Spot the Frank Ignobody" Contest. Frank was a character in a cartoon strip in "Southern Rag" and was shown as a bearded individual. Nearly 80 percent of the male folkies (and the odd female one) looked like the sketch.

By the way, Liz - when you get tired of hanging onto Manitas' beard - you can try my one - but don't tug too hard !
