Walrus: Nope, they were two different characters from two ifferent studios. Snidely Whiplash was the nemesis of "Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties" (a Jay Ward creation – the guy who gave us Rocky & Bullwinkle). See link: http://flyingmoose.org/moose/whiplash.htm

BTW Muttley may have had a laugh similar to that of Quick Draw McGraw's Snuffles, but Snuffles was an earlier character by several years. Besides, Snuffles was one of the good guys, and Muttley most definitely was not.
