O.k., true confessions, I hadn't yet pursued the proper channels, like the Neffa program book, or the local band that I suspect plays it... but, I'm cleaning up my act and have started pursuing both channels. For those waiting in suspenders for the answer to my question (that's you, Kernow John), here's, perhaps, the beginning of the answer -- the band was "Larry Unger & Friends".I shoulda known. That guy can write weird and/or wonderful waltzes! There are some samples from his waltz album at efolkmusic.com. Check out "Thirty Two" if you've ever asked, how do you play a waltz on the (five-string) banjo? (More on Larry Unger.
Unfortunately, my mystery waltz is not one of those with samples at that web site. Still don't have the definitive answer, but I'll let you know when I do. 'Course, if anyone's got the "Curvy Road to Corinth" or "Reckless Reel" books, you could check 'em for me...
