My friends and me have been inspired to try several of the old Memphis jug bands songs that we found on 'The Blues Collection' CD ( released as a magazine & CD set in the UK )- there are some by Cannon's Jug Stompers ( Gus , that is ) and others by the Memphis Jug Band - the rawness and simplicity of it is wonderful - but the arrnagements are sophisticated - they knew how to play ensemble - the trouble is diciphering the words - they sure mumble sometimes - anyone out there who can work out the last line of each verse of KC Moan ? - in fact maybe I've got all the words wrong because they dont make much sense - and also 'Move that thing' - or - is there a songbook of the old stringband tunes that might be of use to us ? - just joined this site - found the other discussion threads very interesting -
