My mother had colon cancer over a year ago and she's doing fine now. I hope this gives you some encouragement.

Before the cancer was discovered, she was misdiagnosed (in my opinion) as having some kind of anemia. She was taking iron supplements and some other medication for it, and on a couple of occasions had blood transfusions and iron infusions. After the cancer was removed, the anemia disappeared. I think the only problem was that she had been losing blood slowly through her colon.
