The "thinking outside the box" approach to problem solving is fine as long as you keep in mind that (1)there may not BE a solution, (2) the solution may be so unpalatable as to be useless, and (3)the solution may already exist inside the box.
For example, a world dictatorship could guarantee peace. Any opposition would be met with instant death.
"But there's no freedom",I hear you say.
Yeah, well...the two don't necessarily go hand in hand; in fact if a country has freedom, it generally isn't long before another country trys to erode it or take it away entirely.
In conclusion, ad hominem remarks should never be substituted for real answers to questions. In other words, if someone asks, "What is YOUR solution?" ,either tell them what your solution is, or tell them that you don't have a solution.
