Thread Name: Lyr/Tune Req: I Will Stay (Bob Skingle)
Subject: Lyr Add: I WILL STAY (Bob Skingle)
After claiming that this rang no bells, I had a sudden enlightenment and remembered that this song was by Bob Skingle who sang on Teesside in the 70s and IIRC for some time sang with the Teesside Fettlers.

(Tune to follow later.)

Mick

I WILL STAY
Bob Skingle

Chorus:
You have tempted me her with your hills and your moorlands
Your clear mountain streams flowing down to the bay.
I have come to your town from a small rocky island
But in valley and highlands I will stay

There is smoke in the air from your tall factory chimneys
Red brick turns brown where kids laugh and play.
Your land lives with legend and sings with proud music
In your valleys and highlands I will stay.

I have walked by your river that flows dark and dirty
Seen you dressed in five colours of April and May.
Seen the smile in the eyes of your sons and your daughters
In your valleys and highlands I will stay.

I will stay by your meadows and wild open meadows. (sic)
Where heather grows golden where trees sing and sway
In the hot dusty air of your smokey old cities
In valleys and highlands I will stay.
