What do I think of the poem? (I haven't heard a melody, so I can't comment as a song!) It seems bleakly accurate to me. I'm slightly uncertain about the 'did not please you' aspect, since this does imply a master/slave, boss/servant, superior/inferior relationship of some kind. I think I'd prefer a 'but it wasn't sufficient' theme but that of course doesn't fit. I like the way it avoids coming up with any simplistic solution at the end.
