Subject: RE: Sonar Bangala (New song from InOBU)
Hi fellows! Well, as a matter of fact Saxonach, I do have a song or two I have written about the genocide with still goes on against Native nation in the Americas. In fact, one is posted here, Yvette's song, and comes out of work I have been doing with the Innu Nation, in their attempts to stop Hydro Quebec from stealing and destroying the land over which they are the stewards.
DMcG... Thanks, I appreciate the comment, and I have often said the difference between political music and historical ballads, if cutting out the last verse about what should be done. There is a companion song to this - under the post titled "Rape", about the present state of things in Bangladesh.
Cheers, Larry
PS Saxonach, drop me an email at InOBU@aol.com, and I will send you a cd from my band, which Yvette's song is on, also, a few other's you may find illustrative, Amadou Diallo is the story of a young African in New York, killed by the police, the CD has gotten some good reviews. Cheers again, Larry
