Thanks to everyone for all the great info. And as long as the discussion seems to be drifting into all manner of old-timey music, I was wondering about an outfit called The North Carolina Ridge Runners (Elmer Elliot & Dock Miller). I have two tunes of theirs on a collection called Music From the Lost Provinces: Stringbands from Ashe County, NC (1927-1931). From what I understand, they recorded a number of tunes back in the day, but I haven't been able to locate anything else. Some of the funniest old-time recordings I've ever heard. Elliot sings in a voice I can only compare to a spoiled infant's. Just wondering if anyone knew anything about these guys. Thanks.
