I totally agree with the half-sized nylon string approach. If you need reminding just how clumsy the guitar feels first time you held one try turning yours over and playing it with opposite hands. Your little girl needs to be as comfortable as she can be with the instrument so she can concentrate on making music rather than just holding on. I can't wait for my 5 year-old to show an interest.
