Thread Name: Songs with 'nonsense' lyrics?
Subject: Lyr Add: THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT (Edward Lear)
This is a nonsense song by Edward Lear
I suspect it has a different meaning to its innocent facade, or is it just the way my mind works? Who knows?

THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT
By Edward Lear

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
in a beautiful pea green boat,
They took plenty of money and honey
wrapped up in a five pound note,
The Owl he looked at the stars above
and he sang to small guitar,
Oh Pussy, oh Pussy, oh Pussy my love
what a beautiful Pussy you are...
You are ... you are ... what a beautiful Pussy you are.

Said the Puss to the Owl you elegant fowl
"How beautifully sweet you sing,
Let us not tarry too long,
but what will we do for a ring"
They sailed away for a year and a day
to the land where the Bong tree grows,
And there at the edge of the sand
stood a piggywig with a ring at the end of his nose,
his nose... his nose... his nose...with a ring at the end of his nose.

"Oh pig are you willing to sell for one shilling your ring ?
", Said the Piggy "I Will"
. So they took it away and were married next day
by a Turkey who lived by the hill.
They dined on mince and a slice of quince

which they ate with runcible spoon,
And hand in hand the danced by the light of the moon
.... the moon. ... the moon .... they danced by the light of the moon.
