D'Cats--While perusing the WWII thread and the Amen thread, it occurred to me that a number of terrific tunes have either originated in or been promoted by other media than recordings and live performances.
References have been made to Oklahoma and Lilies of the Field and Titanic, just to name a few.
The question for the thread is this: what are the scores/soundtracks that Mudcats like best and why?
My vote is for a TV series called "the Singing Detective" which "raised my consciousness" about popular songs of the 30s and 40s. The main character dubbed these songs "banality with a beat," but I love 'em anyway.
Anybody else?
