At least you still HAVE mental institutions... Maggie Thatcher got rid of all ours in the UK (so there wouldn't be any to put her into) in the 1980's and invented 'don't care in the community'. The death rate of people with mental illnesses soared in the first few years and has remained high, as does the number of crimes committed by those whose only defense was 'diminished responsibility'.
