Throwing away our history and culture serves no purpose. Our Monarchy serves us well an will continue to do so for a long time. The Royals enjoyed themselves and remember Prince Philip is 83, older than most of you folkies.... You Republicans are sad people, you were miserable people before the Jubilee, and now you are doubly miserable after these results which makes me very happy. Fuck off.

CBC MAKES ERROR: REVERSES RESULT OF MONARCHY POLL ON FRIDAY BROADCAST - WILL MAKE CORRECTION In his lead-in to the documentary on the Monarchy, Brian Stewart said that the poll the CBC had commissioned showed a dramatic rise in demand for abolition of the Monarchy - from 27% in 94 to 43% today. However, he or his writers had misread the poll and reversed its figures ! The EKOS website - www.ekos.com (for which you need a PDF reader) - reveals that in fact the result is exactly the opposite. If you read the EKOS sheet on the question and the accompanying key to the graphics, you see that the BLACK lines mean DISAGREE - and that in fact the 27-43 increase over eight years is a huge RISE in people DISAGREEING with the statement that the Monarchy should be abolished - people agreeing with the proposition have gone down from 47 to 41. This is born out further by EKos' summary blurb sheet, the last item of which reads "support for abolition is declining." Jonathan Whitten, the Senior Producer, has informed me that the CBC will make a correction tonight or tomorrow night. An accurate reading of the poll is more or less in line with similar positive results for the Crown revealed in the Ipsos/Reid and Compas polls that came out in February
