Billy Bragg yells 'Just, one more thing to do, Pog mo thoin!" Why would Billy Bragg yell that? Firstly, he isn't Oirish, and secondly, he isn't Shane McGowan.Brian May has never played any guitar on stage other than the one he and his dad knocked up with odd bits and pieces in their garage in the early 1970's.
Macca was trying to be funny and failed quite miserably, although his comment - 'can we do this again next year' which allegedly generated the reply 'not in my garden' was amusing the first three times I heard it.
Yes, the Muppet Show and most of the movies were indeed made in the UK (Pinewood Studios I think?) because the States didn't recognise what a good thing they were onto.
As for Maj, she looked like a little girl when she was allowed to light the fireworks...... and Phil the Greek was egging her on!
There was a splendid moment when a commentator described Buck House as being covered in 'one enormous golden shower' but I suspect a lot of people missed that......
And yes, it was good to participate in something national for free, unlike the Dome, which wasn't. Had that been free entry I might have gone to see it, but having paid for it once unwillingly (and unwittingly!) through my taxes, I was sure as hell not going to pay again if I didn't REALLY want to see it. The party in the back garden of Buck House was different, although the dress code and list of rules was a little daunting, including things like 'no swearing', 'no alcohol' and 'no digging up the lawn'.... no wonder Ozzy's minder looked miserable, I daresay those rules stretched to the turns as well!
