Thread Name: RB QUIZ PART II
Subject: RE: RB QUIZ PART II
Just took the old gaily painted barge from Wheelock to Middlewich, and came back to find this fine late flurry of answers. Nigel, quite right on Scarborough and Carlisle. For the full 10 points I'ld like an explanation of the cacophonous band and 157 years musical allusion. And for a free pint I'ld like the famous folkloriston Scarborough Fair. Nreen, spot on with Thames ( extra bonus for archaic spelling) and Aldeburgh ( I was partularly pleased with my bachelors singing about a bachelor clue). To help bring this ordeal to an end, a few hints. First, if you havent spotted the overall theme, get some admiraly charts, or failing that a road book. For (4) think English country dance music (though some includng me might dispute the English). For (5), extend yourthoughts to a very holy city and a very large island off Africa. My clue for (17) is misleading, for which I apolgise. Put it in the plural" fiddlers know where these grow"...I was thinking of the old(singular) name of this very very well-known tune, which is always referred to in the plural nowadays. For (23). remember this is is a non-musical clue, and think what you would obviously be feeling if you'd been horrified. And for (24), just think what sort of things are very old (in England, at least) and very bloody. And now, finish it quick! I want to achieve closure and move on.
