Pitlochry has happy memories for me: the kindly authorities having provided a fish ladder to allow the salmon to swim upstream for spawning, when they built a great dam across the river, we took a liking to the signpost to said tourist attraction.

From then on, the expression dam and fish ladder has been used in moments of extreme annoyance...! :0)
