I forgot to respond to JohnInKansas's point: Melody Assistant, and most of the other notation programs these days, come with a completely free and unrestricted viewer/player for the music, so you only need one 'author' and the rest of the band can be 'viewers'. Of course, it may suit you to have more people able to alter the music.
