Thread Name: Lyr Req: Ivor the Driver (Dave Goulder)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Ivor the Driver
I have the dave goulder version on record "requiem for steam" - Big Ben records BB 00.04 recorded june '71

dave goulder was a railway fireman (stoker) and there is a great selection of railway folksongs, many in lighthearted vein.

also included is "pinwherry dip", a song about a runaway train in an isolated area that runs downhill and up the other side of the valley where it reverses again, going backwards and forwards every ten minutes through pinwherry station where an inspector is trying to get a quiet night's sleep.

the sleeve notes have a superb entry in the credits - as well as "martin carthy, guitar, chorus" there is "maddy prior, spoons"!!!!
