Thread Name: Lyr Req: Tyree Love Song
Subject: Lyr Add: HUREE, HUROO (TIREE LOVE SONG)
Jim, you have the right pronounciation but wrong spelling. I found lyrics at
http://home.swipnet.se/lato/ballads/tireelov.html
I was a bit surprisd because I already knew the song, but didn't know its title or that it was connected with the isle of Tiriodh / Tiree.

Tiree Love Song(Trad)

Hi- ree hi-ro my bonnie wee girl
Hi- ree Hi- ro my fair one*
Will you come away my love
To be my own my fair* one

Smiling the land, shining the sea
Sweet is the smell o' the heather
Would we were yonder you and me
The two of us together

[chorus]
Heree horo my bonnie wee girl
Heree horo my fair one
Will you come away my love
To be my own, my fair one

All day long out at the peat
Then on the shore in the gloaming
Stepping it lightly with dancing feet
And then together homing

Laughter above, singing below
Tripping it lithesome and airy
Could we be asking of life for more
My own my darling Mary

And it is also at Mudcat, DT database; maybe you tried to find the song but didn't know the spelling. Both DT and Swipenet have 'rare one' but I learned 'fair one' I also changed the vocables in the first vers to the way I learned them. I don't know which is correct. Although they're untranslatable, Scots are particular about not changing the sounds of vocables. Rankin Family page
