Mr Hammond, if you think your government is criminally stupid, take a look at ours here in the US. When they outlawed alcohol, creating the school the Italian and Irish gangs went to to learn large scale organized crime and undercutting much of the respect the common man had for the law, they effected Canada, too. When Prohibition became an embarassment to the government, they repealed it; and Harry J Anslinger went to Washington to ask them to please outlaw something else, so Eliot Ness's boys wouldn't be out of a job. With the example of Prohibition fresh in their minds, our glorious leaders considered what they could criminalize for Mr Anslinger. And so they chose a plant that grows wild from Argentina to Alaska. Criminal stupidity? Lethal stupidity! And it effects you, too.
