The familiar old German waltz tune ("You cant put your muck in our dustbin", that one) is aka "Im a little Dutchgirl" or "Buy a Broom", from the connection with itinerant German Buy-a-brooms (Dutch/deutsch). The scenario of the song, incidentally, can be readily seen played out nowadays in Doolin and similar places: replacing the Cumbrian fiddler with an Irish one, and the buy-a-broom with a visiting German student bodhran player.
