Mitchell B.C. did "Falling down on New Jersey", which was heard by a couple of English filkers (Valerie Housden & Phil Allcock IIRC) who changed the words to include English place names to replace the American. Scansion and sense were kept almost identical, although they did finish the song with a wish that the asteroid could be diverted to destroy the Brighton Metropole Hotel (which has at times proved less than helpful to filkers!)
I have a long term project to translate it to Welsh, with suitable place names!
