Thread Name: Need a New Train Song!
Subject: RE: Need a New Train Song!
Thanks, everybuddy. I found one - an easy one to learn too- that I'd never heard before.

That Train Song

Phil Halliday

Gave all he had to my Ma and me
Just another boy child he would never see
Now my ma and my pa went their separate ways
I was born on a midnight train

Well I was raised in a railside shack
And I'd fall asleep to that clicketyclack
All day long I'd run alongside
Learned real young how to hop a ride

Well I got a soul like a runaway train
I got a heart that feels no pain
When you're born with tracks beneath your bed
You sleep with eyes wide open, pointin' straight ahead

Good one. My friend is going to be one surprised man. I don't know where his wife is going to store the Lionel while waiting for his July 27th BD but I'm sure she'll find a place; we're all directing our own orders to our own addresses. Bet we'll bring it off. When the stakes are high enough we can all be deceptive!

Here's another one I found, a takeoff: AMAZING GRACE (TRAIN SONG) (tune of "Amazing Grace") Copyright 1998 by Adam Selzer, All Rights Reserved, ASCAP

Sometimes I listen to the sound
of the hard falling rain
And try to make myself believe
the sound comes from a train

I dream I'm riding in the car
The lonesome whistle blows
I wonder if believing dreams
Can really make them so

I've got to get out of this town
I can't bear to remain
But though I listen very hard
I never hear a train

One night I crept out to the lake
And heard a distant sound
How strange to hear the train that night
When no tracks went through town

I want to be the hobo who
Has no scars on his face
Who jumps out from the moving car
Lands with Amazing Grace
